If you’re planning your next vacation and thinking about visiting Thailand, let me show you how you can explore some of the best family-friendly places in Thailand.
If you plan carefully, you can enjoy this family trip on a low budget while still making the most of your time away from home with your family.
Going on vacation doesn’t have to be an expensive activity reserved only for the rich and famous.
I will show you all the best family-friendly places in Thailand. Let’s begin!
Thailand is a beautiful country with rich culture, and it’s no wonder it’s become such a popular travel destination.
Between November and February is the perfect time to visit Thailand because the weather is drier and cooler compared to other times when it’s humid.
The cost of traveling to Thailand depends very much on your currency.
The Thai Baht is currently worth about 0.026 United States Dollars! Unbelievable right?
At this rate, you can get by on a shoestring budget if you spend carefully and plan well for your Thailand family trip!
Getting in
After researching on the internet about Thailand, calling travel agencies, and asking about all-inclusive packages, we finally booked a group tour option with relatives.
Our package was a total of 7 days – Three days in Pattaya city and three days in Bangkok city.
These two cities served as the focal points of our entire tour, so I’ll talk about the best places in these areas for you to explore.
entry
Citizens from the United States traveling to Thailand for fewer than 30 days do not require a visa.
Anyone who is traveling to Thailand must possess a passport that is valid for at least six months.
It also has at least one passport page for the entry stamp.
You can read detailed information on the United States Embassy’s website.
You can also find detailed guidelines regarding COVID-19 rules and regulations to follow while traveling to Thailand from your travel agent & online.
Most countries ask you to show a certificate of complete vaccination.
Getting around
local tuk-tuk
Grab taxi
There are several cheap ways to get around in Thailand. In both cities, we stayed in we used various modes of transportation.
- Tuk-tuk (auto rikshaw)
- Thailand’s own taxi service is named “Grab Taxi”.
Grab Taxi is similar to Uber. Its app is also available.
There is also a third option of “Motorbike taxi service” (2 wheeler)
But I suggest you avoid it because it’s a bit risky in busy traffic.
Taking public transportation, such as the bus, is your most cost-effective option for transportation.
A one-way ticket from Bangkok to Chiang Mai costs about 200 baht, which is less than $6!
Where to Stay
The best way to save money while traveling is by finding the best hotel deals.
You can do this by researching the best websites to find cheap and affordable hotels,
the best cities to stay in, booking in advance and keeping in mind which are the best activities you can do in a particular city before booking.
How much does it cost to travel to Thailand? It really depends on your style of travel, and what activities you want to do while you’re there.
If you are someone who prefers luxury hotels to stay in then your budget might go up similarly you don’t care much about hotel rooms as long as it’s clean and has the basic amenities a cheap hotel would be fine. In that case, you can save l lot!
Both our hotels were family-friendly and budget friendly.
We stayed at a hotel managed by an Indian owner. He was a very welcoming and helpful person. This hotel had all the basic facilities and more. A restaurant, a small gym, and a small swimming pool, too!
The second hotel we stayed at was ” The Grand Alpine Hotel’. It was in Bangkok city. We stayed there for another three days.
It was also a family-friendly hotel and served tasty food.
Where to eat & drink
food stalls at night in a street
If you’re a foodie like me and love to try new things where you go, You are in for a treat!
Thailand has so much to offer that you a foodie must try. So many local dishes to try, from authentic small Thai restaurants to expensive restaurants. The choice is yours!!
Some of the famous Thai dishes you can try,
- Guay Teow (Noodle Soup)
- Tom Yum Goong (Spicy shrimp soup)
- Tom Kha Gai (Chicken in coconut soup)
- Som Tam (Spicy Green Papaya Salad)
- Pad Thai (Thai-style Fried Noodles)
If you’re on a tight budget, stick to street food and avoid fancy restaurants.
Eating at sometimes 7 eleven stores is also a great way to save money. They keep fresh fruits and so many types of snacks and packaged fruit juices. I still regret not trying the cup-ramen instant noodles available at the store at the time I was there.
And of course, don’t forget to try Thai beer!

Koh-Larn, also known as Coral Island, is blessed with crystal-clear blue water.

Very friendly giraffe asking for food. What amazing creatures they are! It was my first time watching a giraffe this close.
I’m trying to be an expert photographer here and waiting to get the perfect shot of a black swan at the center of these wooden fences! LOL.
Bangkok’s Safari World is the best place to visit with your family and to explore it properly with enough time, I suggest you give it a full day to explore. There are so many things to see, and so many live shows to watch. And also various Thai cuisines to try.
It is also one of the best family-friendly places in Thailand.
Visit Wat Traimit temple
If you’re interested in world religions, Thailand’s amazing temples are a must-see.
Thailand is filled with magnificent Buddhist temples. Some are centuries old, and others are much younger.
Some of the unique temples in Thailand are made of wood, stone, and even recycled beer bottles!

Take a Chaophraya cruise dinner at night:
After a long day of traveling from one location to another, what could be better than a night cruise dinner with your family?
Thailand is best known for its night cruises with dinner services for its visitors. To enjoy one, book it in advance with your travel agent or buy a package that includes it.
Don’t miss out on this opportunity to enjoy an amazing view of the Chaophraya River at night while enjoying dinner on your family vacation in Thailand.
These are some images I took while on a cruise; they are not very good quality because there was a glass window between the outside view and where we were seated. But you’ll get a little idea of how it looks on a cruise at night.
Sail down the serene waters of the Chao Phraya River while having dinner with your loved ones on this Chao Phraya Dinner Cruise.
Satisfy your tastebuds with Thai special dishes and international cuisines.
You will be enchanted by the dazzling beauty of Bangkok and its famous landmarks by
night.
There will be an entertaining live band and dance performances by professional artists on
the cruise with you.
I was not very hungry, so I decided to have some snacks instead. Also, I am a vegetarian, so decided to eat some french fries! 😀
But they have prepared so many different food items, both veg and non-veg.
People were finding it hard to decide what to eat with so many choices!
After completing our dinner cruise, we opted for a family photo, which they framed for us then and there! How convenient!
And with this dinner cruise experience, our journey came to an end. We returned to our hotel and got a good night’s sleep. So the next day we packed out our belongings and got ready for our journey back home.

You can buy SIM cards anywhere in Thailand, but it’s best to purchase them immediately when you arrive and get connected. Thai SIM card shops will be there just after passing the customs area. The one I purchased from the airport was “True Move H.”
40 BAHT. ( 4th floor only)
Chao Phraya Princess
Not Uber but a similar online taxi service named “GRAB TAXI” is available. (App based)
Approx 425$ USD (+shopping extra)
Absolutely! I wrote about all the family-friendly places in this article; visit those places and more, like Phuket and Krabi!
There are currency exchange shops at the airport as well as in the city. So take U.S. dollars with you and exchange only the required amount as needed along the way in the city.
