Although there are more than 20 places in Udaipur that you can explore, if you have only a limited amount of time, these are the 12 places that, in my opinion, you should not miss. If you’re planning a weekend trip and have only 2 days to explore Udaipur, then divide the 12 places and try to visit 6 places on day 1 and another 6 places on day 2. Feel free to add or remove any places, as per your preference, from your itinerary. So let’s start!
1. City Palace Udaipur

One of the must-visit places in Udaipur is “City Palace Udaipur.” Maharana Udaysingji started its construction after him over the span of 400 years, and with contributions from several rulers of the Mewar dynasty, it was completed.
Currently, the city palace is managed by the Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation.
It is India’s second-largest palace. (1st place: Mysore Palace)

2. Karni Mata Temple and Ropeway – Udaipur places to visit in 2 days

If you are in Udaipur for a weekend trip, you should definitely plan your visit to ‘Karni Mata Temple.’
This temple was built by Maharana Karan Sinhji in 1620–1628.
Its entrance is located 10 minutes walking distance from Dudh Talai.
You will see an amazing view of Udaipur City from the top. To reach the top, where the temple is, you need to take a ropeway ticket. You can also opt to trek via the stairs.

Karni Mata Temple and ropeway are managed by Karni Mata Vikas Trust.
Udaipur railway station to Karni Mata Temple is around 1.6 kilometers.
When you exit from the ropeway on top, there is a small restaurant where you can have some snacks.

3. Pratap Memorial / Moti Magari – Udaipur places to visit in 2 days

This place is situated on the Moti Magri hill. (Pearl Hill) It is a tribute to Maharana Pratap and his loyal horse Chetak.
This memorial was built by Maharana Bhagwat Singh Ji in 1948. If you are interested in the history of the Haldi Ghati battle and Maharana Pratap and Chetak’s inspiring story, this place is a must-visit for you.
You can see a beautiful view of Lake Fateh Sagar and Udaipur city from here. That’s why it is one of the best in Udaipur places to visit in 2 days.

Monsoon Palace’s actual name is Sajjangarh Fort. It was named after Maharana Sajjnsing of Mewar. He started the construction of this fort, but due to his unfortunate death at a young age, his successor, Maharana Fateh Sing, completed work on this majestic palace.
Situated high in the Aravali hills, this palace offers a vantage point to observe and enjoy the rainy weather during the monsoon.

5. Bagore ki Haveli (Museum and Cultural show)

Situated on the banks of Lake Pichola at Gangor Ghat in Udaipur city, Bagore ki Haveli is a must-visit if you want to experience authentic Rajasthani culture.
Here you can witness a truly cultural event called ‘Dharohar, a Rajasthani folk dance show.
I suggest you visit Gangor Ghat in the evening and see the beautiful sunset at the Ghat. After that, you can head to watch the Dharohar Show, which will start at 7:00 p.m. and last for an hour.

6. Fateh Sagar Lake

Fateh Sagar Lake is an artificial lake named after Maharana Fateh Singh of Udaipur and Mewar.
Lake was first constructed in 1687 by Maharana Jai Singh but due to flood, it was washed away in the next 200 years. Thereafter Maharana Fateh Singh reconstructed the lake and build a Dam on the lake in 1889 and renamed it Fateh Sagar Lake.
Things to do at Lake Fateh Sagar:
- Boating during the day: You can enjoy boating in Lake Fateh Sagar during the day. You can visit Nehru Park which is situated in the middle of Fateh Sagar Lake on a small island. To visit Nehru Park you can get a boat ride from near Guru Gobind Singh Park.

Jagdish temple is a Hindu temple in Udaipur that is a must-visit for all tourists. It is situated in the old city of Udaipur.
It was built in 1651 by Maharana Jagat Singh.
Photography is not allowed in the main part of the temple.

8. Lake Pichola

Lake Pichola is situated near the City Palace in Udaipur. It is an artificial freshwater lake.
It was built in 1362. It was named after a nearby village, ‘Picholi.’
Here you can enjoy boating on Pichola Lake. To enjoy boating, you need to reach ‘Pichola Lake Boating Point.’
Tip: Avoid boating in Fateh Sagar Lake and experience boating in Pichola Lake. This one has a better experience based on tourists’ reviews.

Saheliyon ki bari was built by Maharana Sangram Singh II between 1710-1734 for the entertainment of the royal ladies and their maids of honor.
Water flow from Fateh Sagar Lake comes here and enables the beautiful fountains. If you close your eyes and listen to the voice of fountains, you will feel like it’s raining around you.

10. Ahar Cenotaphs

Now this place is a very unique and lesser-known place in Udaipur.
The Ahar Cenotaphs is a place where more than 250 cenotaphs of Maharanas and Maharanis of Mewar were built.
There are 19 Chhatris (domes) built for 19 Maharanas.

Nearby there is a museum called ‘Ahar Museum’ where you can see remains of 4000 years old ‘Ahar Civilization.’

Shilgram is an artificial Village to showcase the art and crafts of the various cultures and tribes. It is situated west of Udaipur. It is like a live museum where you can see a live performance of the cultural artist performing their folk dance and singing. During December, there is a festival or mela organized where people come from various states to show their art and crafts.
If you are interested in buying art and craft items as a souvenir for your trip to Udaipur, check out some of the small huts where local tribal people create and sell their art pieces here at Shilpgram. Support the local culture and art by purchasing something from them.
Tip: If you’re visiting Udaipur in December, don’t miss the 10-day festival organized here every year from December 21 to December 30.
